Agra Fort, located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh is a well known monument of India. Agra Fort is a UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage Site elongates along the Yamuna River and 2.5 km northwesterly of The Taj. The Walled City can be the alternative name of the Fort.

Abul Fazal in his chronicles referred that Agra Fort had over five hundred buildings. Most of the buildings lent later by various emperors use marble as the chief structure material. River Yamuna touched the fort at the time of Akbar and thus, a number of ghats were constructed here. Some of these ghats were intended to load and unload goods shipped via river and other covered transitions were for employ by the harem inmates only.

Jahangir Mahal:-This palace is double storied, was for the royal women’s quarters constructed by The Great Akbar and the only building that survives among the original palace buildings.
